Preparation
Step 1
How to make yeast cottage cheese buns with jam? First, prepare the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Pour 250 ml room-temperature milk (1 cup + 1 Tbsp) into a large bowl, then add 7 g dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp).
Step 3
Add 2 Tbsp sugar.
Step 4
Add 2 Tbsp flour.
Step 5
Mix everything until smooth and place in a warm spot for 15 minutes to activate the yeast.
Step 6
In a deep bowl, add 150 g cottage cheese (about 2/3 cup), then add 2 Tbsp sugar, a small pinch of salt, and 1 tsp vanilla sugar. If the cottage cheese is too wet, squeeze it through cheesecloth.
Step 7
Crack 1 egg into the bowl with the cottage cheese and sugar.
Step 8
Pour 80 g melted butter (about 5 1/2 Tbsp) into the same bowl.
Step 9
Blend everything with an immersion blender until you get a smooth cottage cheese mixture.
Step 10
Add the prepared cottage cheese mixture to the bowl with the activated yeast.
Step 11
Mix well until smooth.
Step 12
Sift 450 g wheat flour (about 3 3/4 cups) into the bowl with the liquid base and knead the dough.
Step 13
Knead the dough by hand in the bowl for about 10 minutes.
Step 14
Gather the dough into a ball and place it in the bowl. Grease it with a little vegetable oil and, covered with a towel, let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
Step 15
After 1 hour, transfer the dough to the table, gently punch it down, and divide into 2 parts.
Step 16
Shape each half and divide each into 6 pieces.
Step 17
Roll each piece into a ball, place on the table, and cover with a towel.
Step 18
One by one, press each ball into a flat round of the needed size and make four cuts in each with a knife.
Step 19
Place 1 tsp jam or fruit preserve in the center of each round.
Step 20
Pinch the edges of the “petals” together in a certain order.
Step 21
Continue sealing the petals.
Step 22
Slightly stretching it, seal the fourth petal.
Step 23
Shape all buns into rose-like flowers.
Step 24
Place the shaped buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let rise in a warm place for 20 minutes.
Step 25
After that, brush the buns with 1 egg beaten with 2 Tbsp milk, and place them into an oven preheated to 175°C / 347°F.
Step 26
After 20-25 minutes, remove the baking sheet from the oven. Let the buns cool a little, then transfer to a plate. Choose the baking time and setting based on how your oven works.
Step 27
Cook together, cook simply, cook at home - the tastiest dishes from accessible ingredients. Enjoy your meal and a cozy tea time!
