Preparation
Step 1
For this recipe, I used turkey thigh, but you can use any part of the bird. The vegetable set can vary depending on your taste. Even with a simple set like onion and carrot, the dish will still turn out rich and flavorful.
Step 2
Rinse and pat dry the turkey. Cut it into medium pieces. Peel the onion, carrot, and garlic. Cut the bell pepper in half and remove the core and seeds. For a more colorful dish, use peppers of different colors. Rinse and pat dry all vegetables with paper towels.
Step 3
Heat refined vegetable oil in a skillet with high sides and a thick bottom. Add the turkey. Reduce the heat to medium and fry, stirring occasionally, until half-cooked. This took me about 20 minutes.
Step 4
Meanwhile, chop the vegetables. Choose your own cutting style. I cut the carrot into sticks, peppers into strips, and onion into small cubes.
Step 5
When the turkey pieces are browned, move to the next step.
Step 6
Add the vegetables to the skillet.
Step 7
Stir everything well and fry for about 5 minutes.
Step 8
Add your favorite spices and salt to taste.
Step 9
Pour in a small amount of water (about 3-4 tbsp / 2-3 oz) and stir. Cover the skillet with a lid and simmer for 10-15 minutes over low heat.
Step 10
Add tomatoes, sliced into wedges or cubes, and garlic (pressed or finely chopped).
Step 11
Simmer everything for another 2-3 minutes.
Step 12
Rinse the rice several times until the water runs clear. Add it to the skillet and spread evenly.
Step 13
Pour in water so that it covers the rice by about ½ inch (1–1.5 fingers). Cover with a lid and cook until the rice is ready. It took me about 15 minutes.
Step 14
Garnish the finished dish with fresh herbs and add black pepper if desired. Serve!
