Easy
About 30 min.
Preparation
Step 1
You can use minced meat from any type of meat or even a mix. Choose based on taste and availability. Sour cream can be of any fat content. It can be replaced with mayonnaise or sauce.
Step 2
Peel the onion, rinse in cold water, and finely chop. Place the minced meat in a large bowl and add the chopped onion. Season with salt and spices to taste. I use ground peppers and a bit of paprika. Mix everything thoroughly.
Step 3
For baking, any ovenproof dish will do: metal, glass, or ceramic. Grease the bottom and sides lightly with vegetable oil. Spread the minced meat mixture evenly inside.
Step 4
Wash the tomatoes, cut them in half, and remove the stems. Slice the tomatoes and arrange them over the minced meat.
Step 5
Spread sour cream or mayonnaise on top of the tomatoes and meat.
Step 6
Generously sprinkle with grated cheese. Cover loosely with foil (not airtight) so excess liquid can evaporate but the top doesn’t burn. Place the dish in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 40-60 minutes. About 10-15 minutes before it’s done, remove the foil.
Step 7
Take the dish out of the oven, portion onto plates, and serve. You can add any side dish or enjoy it as a main course. Bon appétit!
