Preparation
Step 1
Mushrooms can be any type. Instead of chicken, you can use ground meat or make a filling only from vegetables, mushrooms, and cheese. Rinse bulgur well and cook until done.
Step 2
Clean the mushrooms and dice them. Sauté in a dry pan until partially cooked. If using other mushrooms (wild mushrooms need pre-boiling, frozen need thawing), adjust cooking method.
Step 3
Dice the chicken breast. Optionally, grind it into mince, but small cubes work well.
Step 4
Grate the cheese on a coarse grater.
Step 5
Finely chop onion and herbs.
Step 6
Cut peppers in half, removing seeds and membranes.
Step 7
In a bowl, combine cooked bulgur, mushrooms, diced chicken, chopped herbs and onion, and grated cheese (reserve some cheese for topping). Mix with sour cream and spices.
Step 8
Stuff the pepper halves with the prepared mixture.
Step 9
Place stuffed peppers on a baking tray lined with foil, parchment, or a silicone mat. Sprinkle with remaining grated cheese on top.
Step 10
Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (356 °F) for 25-30 minutes. Adjust time and temperature based on your oven.
Step 11
Transfer the cooked peppers to a serving dish, garnish with herbs and cheese, and serve with sour cream. Enjoy!
