Preparation
Step 1
How do you make homemade spaghetti with minced meat and tomato paste? You can use either homemade or store-bought mince. Pork, beef, chicken, or really any kind. If, like me, you prefer homemade mince, I recommend grinding the meat through a meat grinder twice so it becomes softer. I used minced beef. Cover the mince with plastic wrap and leave it to rest in the refrigerator for a while.
Step 2
Pour cold filtered water into a pot and place it over medium heat. Do not add salt yet, the water will come to a boil faster this way.
Step 3
Heat sunflower oil in a nonstick frying pan and add finely chopped onion. Fry it over medium heat until golden.
Step 4
Place the spaghetti vertically into a pot of boiling water and, as the spaghetti softens, help it sink fully into the water with a spoon. After that, salt the water to taste.
Step 5
Cook the spaghetti, stirring occasionally, for 1 minute less than the instructions on the package say. I cooked mine for 6 minutes after the water came back to a boil. But all spaghetti is different, so follow the package directions. While the spaghetti is cooking, let’s work on the mince.
Step 6
Transfer the mince to the frying pan and fry it, stirring, for about 1 minute. The mince should change color.
Step 7
After the excess moisture has evaporated, add the tomato paste and salt the dish to taste. You can also add your favorite spices that go well with meat.
Step 8
Simmer the mince over low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes.
Step 9
Ideally, by this time the spaghetti should already be ready. Drain it in a colander and let the excess water run off. Then transfer it to the frying pan with the meat.
Step 10
Carefully mix the dish with a cooking spatula so as not to damage the spaghetti.
Step 11
Warm the spaghetti under a closed lid for a couple of minutes. That is why we cooked the spaghetti a little less in the pot. Otherwise, in the frying pan it would become overcooked. Spaghetti with minced meat in tomato sauce is served hot. You can additionally serve extra tomato sauce or ketchup with it and garnish it with fresh herbs.
