Easy
About 10 min.
Preparation
Step 1
Choose any mayonnaise you like – it sets the base flavor of the sauce. You can also make homemade mayo. For the herbs, use what you have: dill, parsley, or green onions. Use one large or two small pickles. Pickled cucumbers can be used instead of salted ones.
Step 2
Chop the pickle(s) into very small cubes. You can also grate them, but if you do, make sure to squeeze out the juice – otherwise, the sauce will be too runny. Transfer the chopped pickles to a small bowl.
Step 3
Finely chop the fresh herbs (dill works great here). Add them to the bowl with the pickles.
Step 4
Peel the garlic and press it directly into the bowl. Add salt and spices to taste. Keep in mind that pickles and mayo are already salty, so you may not need any extra salt. For seasoning, try ground pepper or dried herbs like basil or oregano.
Step 5
Add the mayonnaise and mix all ingredients thoroughly until smooth. If you want a lighter version, substitute mayonnaise with sour cream or plain yogurt, but note that the flavor will change.
Step 6
Your sauce with mayonnaise and pickles is ready! Serve it in a small bowl. It pairs well with country-style potatoes, toasted bread, or chicken wings. Enjoy!
