Easy
About 20 min.
Preparation
Step 1
Choose processed cheese that can be grated. It usually comes in small rectangular blocks.
Step 2
For preparing the cheese spread, use a large mixing bowl. Grate the processed cheese on a coarse grater into the bowl.
Step 3
Peel the garlic and press it through a garlic press. Add it to the cheese, then crack in one egg and add mayonnaise. You may also add a little salt and spices, but note that processed cheese is usually salty enough. Mix everything well until smooth.
Step 4
Grease a baking sheet with vegetable oil and place slices of white bread topped with the cheese mixture on it. The bread will soak a little oil underneath, turn golden, and become crispy during baking, similar to toasted croutons. Place the sheet in a preheated oven at 180°C (about 355°F) for 10-15 minutes, depending on your oven.
Step 5
Remove the ready sandwiches from the oven. The cheese should be melted, and the bottom of the bread golden and crispy. Transfer to a plate and garnish with fresh herbs. Enjoy!
