Easy
About 45 min.
Preparation
Step 1
You can use any meat (beef, pork, chicken, turkey, or even sausage). Wash the eggs and boil them in water for 7–10 minutes. Then drain the hot water and cool the eggs in cold water.
Step 2
Defrost the meat in advance. Rinse it well and pat dry with a paper towel—excess moisture will prevent it from frying and cause it to stew instead. Slice into thin strips about 1.5–2.5 inches (4–6 cm) long. The salad looks neatest when all ingredients are cut into similar-sized pieces.
Step 3
Peel the onion and rinse it under cold water. Slice into half-rings. To avoid eye irritation, rinse the onion and knife in cold water before slicing. You can also rub a lemon wedge over your cutting board to prevent it from absorbing onion odor.
Step 4
Heat a skillet and pour in a bit of vegetable oil. Add the sliced meat and sauté over medium-low heat for 7–10 minutes. Season with a little salt and spices, but keep in mind that pickles and mayo will also add saltiness—so don’t overdo it.
Step 5
Add the sliced onion to the skillet, stir, and cook everything together for another 3–4 minutes. For softer meat and onion, add 2–3 tablespoons of hot water and simmer covered for 10–12 minutes until the water evaporates.
Step 6
Remove the meat and onions from the skillet and let them cool completely.
Step 7
Once cooled, add the boiled eggs cut into thin strips.
Step 8
Also cut the pickled cucumbers into thin strips and add them to the rest.
Step 9
Dress the salad with mayonnaise and mix well. You can also make homemade mayo. Serve the finished salad in a bowl and enjoy. Bon appétit!
