Advice
If the cucumber skin is not tough, damaged, or bitter, it doesn't need to be peeled. Choose juicy but firm tomatoes. Soft tomatoes lose their shape during slicing and ruin the look of the salad.
Preparation
Step 1
The amount and ratio of ingredients are approximate. You can adjust each one to your taste. You can make croutons yourself or buy ready-made with any flavor. For homemade croutons, use a 1-2 day old baguette or white bread.
Step 2
Cut bread slices into small cubes. Heat a frying pan and toast the cubes over low heat until dry and crispy. You may lightly salt them. Let the croutons cool down.
Step 3
Cut the cucumber into large pieces, either half-moons or quarters. Place them into a bowl where you'll mix all the ingredients.
Step 4
Wash the tomatoes, cut them in half, and remove the stems. Cut into chunks and add to the cucumbers in the bowl.
Step 5
Cut the ham or sausage into cubes and combine it with the tomatoes and cucumbers.
Step 6
Use any fresh herbs you like. I use green onions and parsley. If you're serving the salad immediately, add the croutons now.
Step 7
Dress the salad with vegetable oil and a splash of vinegar. Add pressed garlic. Season with salt and your favorite spices. Mix well, transfer to a serving bowl, and serve. Enjoy!
