Preparation
Step 1
How do you make rice with ground meat in tomato sauce? Prepare the ingredients. Any ground meat will work - beef, pork, chicken, turkey, or mixed varieties. If your ground meat is frozen, take it out of the freezer beforehand and let it thaw at room temperature. Use any rice - round, long-grain, or parboiled. The only difference will be the cooking time. Rinse the rice several times in cold water.
Step 2
Peel the onion and chop it finely. Pour a little vegetable oil into a hot skillet and add the chopped onion. Fry it for 1–2 minutes over medium heat, until it becomes translucent.
Step 3
Add the ground meat to the skillet with the onion. Fry everything together for a few minutes, stirring the meat with a spatula and breaking up the lumps, so that the moisture evaporates and the meat browns slightly.
Step 4
For the sauce, mix the tomato paste with water. Stir so that the tomato paste dissolves evenly in the water.
Step 5
Pour the tomato sauce over the ground meat.
Step 6
Then add the rinsed rice to the skillet and pour in hot water so that it sits slightly above the surface of the rice. Add a little salt and spices to taste. Cover the skillet with a lid and cook over low heat for 15–20 minutes. The cooking time depends on the type of rice you use. The rice should become tender and absorb all the water. Watch the water level and the doneness of the rice. If needed, add a little more water during cooking.
Step 7
When the rice is ready, mix it with the ground meat. Turn off the heat and leave it under the lid a little longer so the rice steams even more. Put the finished dish on a plate and serve hot. Enjoy your meal!
