Preparation
Step 1
How to bake puff pastries with curd cheese from puff pastry? Prepare the ingredients. It’s best to use puff pastry in square sheets - then you won’t need to roll it out much to get the right shape and size. Thaw the dough in advance. Choose curd cheese (farmer’s cheese) that’s not too wet and not too dry; any fat content works.
Step 2
Crack the egg into a separate bowl and whisk it with a fork.
Step 3
In another bowl, combine the curd cheese, half of the beaten egg, sugar, and vanilla sugar.
Step 4
Mash everything with a fork until smooth.
Step 5
Lay the puff pastry on the work surface and lightly roll it into an even square. Cut the sheet into 4 equal squares.
Step 6
Make corner cuts in the squares as shown in the photo.
Step 7
Spoon the curd filling into the center of each square. It’s best to divide the filling into equal portions right away - one per pastry.
Step 8
Fold and connect the corners in pairs over the filling as shown in the photo. You can shape them differently if you like.
Step 9
Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 10
Brush the pastries with the remaining egg. Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C / 374°F for about 20 minutes. Adjust the time and temperature to your oven.
Step 11
Sprinkle the finished pastries with powdered sugar if desired. Enjoy!
