Easy
About 20 min.
Preparation
Step 1
You can use smoked or fresh bacon for cooking. I prefer smoked bacon because it gives the dish a wonderful aroma. You may adjust the amount and proportions of ingredients to taste. Wash the potatoes thoroughly with a brush under running water, peel them, and rinse again.
Step 2
Cut the bacon into small slices. Heat a skillet until hot, add a little vegetable oil, and place the bacon inside. Fry for a couple of minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 3
Meanwhile, peel the onion, rinse it, and slice into half-rings or smaller. To prevent eye irritation while cutting, rinse the onion and knife in cold water. Rub a piece of lemon on the cutting board to avoid unpleasant onion smell.
Step 4
Add the sliced onion to the skillet with the bacon and fry together for another minute. You should smell the characteristic aroma of fried onion. Make sure the onion and bacon fry but do not burn. Reduce the heat slightly if necessary.
Step 5
Cut the peeled potatoes into your preferred shape. I like thin strips (French fry style).
Step 6
Add the potatoes to the skillet. Stir everything together. Season with spices and salt to taste, but keep in mind that bacon is already salty. Cover the skillet with a lid and cook over low heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking or burning. During this time, the potatoes will become soft.
Step 7
Remove the skillet from heat. Fried potatoes with bacon are ready! Serve hot on plates and enjoy.
