Easy
About 1 hour.
Preparation
Step 1
Choose boneless pork – pork loin or ham works well. You can also use any other type of meat.
Step 2
Rinse the meat under cold running water and pat it dry with paper towels. Cut into small pieces.
Step 3
Heat a skillet until hot, add vegetable oil. Add the meat and fry for 7-10 minutes until it starts to brown.
Step 4
While the meat is frying, peel the onion, rinse in cold water, and finely chop.
Step 5
In another skillet, heat a bit of oil and sauté the onion for 3-4 minutes until soft.
Step 6
Add tomato paste to the sautéed onions.
Step 7
Stir and cook the onion with tomato paste for 2–3 minutes. Then transfer everything to the skillet with the meat.
Step 8
Pour in hot water and bring to a boil. Add bay leaf, salt, and spices to taste. Cover and simmer on low heat for 40-50 minutes until the meat is tender.
Step 9
In a small bowl, mix flour with a little water until smooth (no lumps). Add to the pan. Bring everything back to a boil – the sauce will thicken. If you like more sauce, just add more water.
Step 10
Simmer together for a couple more minutes and remove from heat. Serve this goulash with any side dish you like. Enjoy!
