Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the necessary ingredients. Choose a tomato with a firm, thick skin to maintain its shape when sliced.
Step 2
Thaw the fish beforehand. Clean the fish, remove the insides, cut off the fins and tail. Scale the fish and wash it well. Cut it into pieces.
Step 3
Place the fish pieces in a suitable-sized pot, cover with cold water, and bring to a boil. Remove any foam that forms, lightly salt the water. Add bay leaf and allspice. Cook on medium heat for about 20 minutes until the fish is fully cooked. Cooking time will depend on the size of the fish pieces and the heat of your stove.
Step 4
Peel, wash, and dice the onion into small cubes.
Step 5
Peel, wash, and cut the carrot into thin strips.
Step 6
Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Sauté the onion, stirring occasionally, until it is halfway cooked.
Step 7
Add the carrot to the pan. Sauté the vegetables over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
Step 8
Wash the tomato and cut it into medium-sized cubes.
Step 9
At the end of sautéing, add the tomato to the vegetables and stir. Let the vegetables simmer in the pan for about 1 minute.
Step 10
Remove the pink salmon pieces from the broth and let them cool. Strain the broth. Remove the fish bones and break the fish into smaller pieces.
Step 11
Peel, wash, and cut the potatoes into medium cubes.
Step 12
Return the strained broth to the stove and bring it to a boil. Add the potatoes. Once the broth starts boiling again, reduce the heat and cook the potatoes for 5-7 minutes. The cooking time will depend on the type of potato and how quickly it softens. Adjust accordingly.
Step 13
Rinse the millet thoroughly and add it to the pot. Stir and let the soup simmer gently for about 5 minutes.
Step 14
Add the sautéed vegetables to the pot.
Step 15
Add the fish pieces back to the soup and stir. Add more salt if needed.
Step 16
Let the soup simmer over low heat for 5-7 more minutes.
Step 17
Pour the Pink Salmon Soup with Millet into bowls and serve. Enjoy your meal!
