Oven-Baked Sea Bass
A portioned fish dish with almost no bones. Oven-baked sea bass is easy for lunch or dinner - no special prep needed. I’ll flavor it with fresh basil, but you can skip it or use dried herbs.

Preparation
Step 1
How to bake sea bass in the oven? Prepare all ingredients. Ideally use chilled fish that hasn’t been frozen. If you only have frozen fish, let it thaw at room temperature. Don’t use hot water - otherwise the fish will turn out dry because the juices will be lost. Olive oil can be replaced with sunflower oil.
Step 2
Clean the fresh fish. Make a lengthwise cut along the belly and remove the innards. Rinse well under running water. Be careful - the fins are sharp; you can remove them if you like. For a nice presentation, it’s better not to cut off the head and tail.
Step 3
Sprinkle a little lemon juice inside and outside the fish. This helps remove a strong fishy smell.
Step 4
Rub the fish inside and outside with olive oil and sprinkle with a little salt and seasoning. You can use store bought fish seasoning mix or just dried herbs. I use a bit of dried dill.
Step 5
Rub the fish inside and outside with olive oil and sprinkle with a little salt and seasoning. You can use a ready fish seasoning mix or just dried herbs. I use a bit of dried dill.
Step 6
Place the prepared fish on top.
Step 7
Add a few basil leaves - some inside, some on top. Put the dish into an oven preheated to 200°C / 392°F and bake for 25-30 minutes, depending on your oven.
Step 8
After this time, the fish will be ready. Remove from the oven and transfer to a serving platter.
Step 9
If you like, serve with boiled potatoes or fresh vegetables. Enjoy!
