Preparation
Step 1
How to bake meat with mushrooms and cheese in the oven? Prepare the needed ingredients. You can use any meat - pork, beef, or veal. I’m using pork. Choose any cheese you like, as long as it grates easily.
Step 2
Heat a skillet until hot and add a little vegetable oil. Cut the pork into small pieces and place them in the hot skillet. Sear on all sides until golden. Lightly salt the meat. Searing on a hot skillet “seals” the pieces and helps keep the juices inside.
Step 3
Prepare an oven-safe baking dish (ceramic, glass, or metal). Grease the bottom with a little vegetable oil. Peel the onion, rinse in cold water, then finely chop and spread evenly over the bottom of the dish.
Step 4
Add the seared meat on top.
Step 5
Peel the potatoes and rinse under running water to remove any dirt. Slice the potatoes into rounds.
Step 6
Layer the sliced potatoes over the meat and spread a small amount of mayonnaise on top. If you prefer, replace the mayonnaise with sour cream. Sprinkle the potatoes with a little salt and spices.
Step 7
Rinse fresh button mushrooms in cold water and slice them. You can set aside a few mushrooms for decoration. Spread the sliced mushrooms over the potatoes.
Step 8
Generously sprinkle everything with grated cheese. Put the dish into an oven preheated to 190°C / 375°F for about 45–50 minutes (adjust for your oven). About 15-20 minutes before the end, place a few mushroom slices on top of the cheese for decoration.
Step 9
The finished dish will smell amazing. The cheese will melt and start to brown. Serve straight from the baking dish or plate it. Enjoy!
