Preparation
Step 1
How to make a roll in foil? Prepare the listed ingredients. We’re making it from chicken breast - it should be fresh, not previously frozen. Use any spices you like; dried herbs such as basil, thyme, oregano, etc. work well too. Peel the garlic and chop it finely. Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
Step 2
Rinse the chicken fillet under cold running water and pat dry with a towel or paper towels. Slice each piece lengthwise into sheets about 1 cm (about ⅜ inch) thick. Using a meat mallet, pound each piece on both sides through plastic wrap - gently, so you don’t tear the meat.
Step 3
Rub each piece on both sides with salt and ground black pepper. Lay a sheet of foil on the work surface and overlap the chicken pieces to form one continuous layer with no gaps.
Step 4
Evenly spread the chopped garlic over the chicken. Sprinkle with your chosen spices or dried herbs.
Step 5
Carefully roll it up. The roll should be tight and hold its shape well.
Step 6
Wrap the roll in two layers of foil (juices may leak), place it in a baking dish or on a baking sheet. Bake in an oven preheated to 190-200°C (374-392°F) for about 40-45 minutes. Adjust for your oven.
Step 7
Remove the finished roll from the oven and let it cool slightly so you don’t burn yourself when unwrapping. You can serve it hot, or cool it completely in the foil (it slices more neatly) and serve as a cold appetizer.
