Preparation
Step 1
How to bake chicken in sour cream sauce in the oven? Prepare the necessary ingredients. You can use any chicken parts - I’m using chicken thighs. The onion can be red (like mine) or regular yellow onion. Any mushrooms will work - it will be tasty in its own way. You can use button mushrooms or wild mushrooms. I’m using wild mushrooms that were boiled in water for 25 minutes. Use sour cream with 15-20% fat.
Step 2
For the sour cream sauce, mix the prepared sour cream with salt and spices. Many spices go well with chicken, so choose to your taste. I use a little curry, dried basil, ground black pepper, and a little red pepper.
Step 3
Rinse the chicken thighs under running water and pat them dry well with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Then coat the chicken with the sour cream marinade.
Step 4
For baking, use any oven-safe dish: metal, ceramic, or glass. Grease the bottom and sides with a small amount of vegetable oil and place the chicken thighs inside. Spread the prepared mushrooms and the onion (peeled and sliced into half-rings) on top. If using button mushrooms, wash, peel, and cut them into 2-3 pieces.
Step 5
Brush everything on top with the remaining sour cream sauce. Cover the dish with a sheet of foil and place in an oven preheated to 190°C (374°F) for 50-60 minutes (adjust to your oven). About 15 minutes before the end, remove the foil and let the chicken brown on top.
Step 6
Remove the finished dish from the oven. You can serve it right away in the baking dish or arrange it on plates.
Step 7
The tasty, appetizing, filling chicken baked in sour cream sauce in the oven is ready! Serve with fresh vegetables.
Step 8
Enjoy your meal!
