Noodle Casserole with Cottage Cheese in the Oven

A dish loved since childhood – an indescribable delight! Noodle casserole with cottage cheese is very similar to a cheese casserole, which is why kids love it. It can be baked sweet and served with sour cream and jam, or you can reduce the sugar and make a more savory version.

Easy
About 30 min.
Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the ingredients. I used regular egg noodles, but any pasta will do. It's very convenient to make this casserole using leftover side dishes. Use any kind of cottage cheese, but softer cheese works best. Adjust the amount of sugar and salt to suit your taste – whether you want it sweet or savory. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Step 2
Cook the noodles in salted water according to the instructions on the package. Drain the noodles in a colander and allow them to cool.
Step 3
Take one egg and crack it into a bowl. Add the sugar and salt. Whisk everything together with a hand whisk.
Step 4
Add the cottage cheese to the mixture. If it's crumbly, pass it through a sieve or blend it with an immersion blender. I used soft cottage cheese, so I skipped this step. Stir the cottage cheese with the egg mixture until smooth.
Step 5
Add the cooked noodles to the mixture and stir to combine.
Step 6
Take a suitable baking dish and grease it with a piece of soft butter. Transfer the noodle mixture into the dish. I used a 23x14x6 cm (9x5.5x2.5 inch) dish.
Step 7
Crack the second egg into a small bowl, add sour cream, and mix them until smooth.
Step 8
Pour the egg-sour cream mixture over the casserole.
Step 9
Bake the casserole in the preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 30-40 minutes. The exact time will depend on your oven. The top should turn golden brown. Once ready, remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool slightly.
Step 10
Serve the noodle casserole with sour cream, sweetened condensed milk, or jam. Enjoy your meal!
