Preparation
Step 1
How do you make a meat “vatrushka”? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Choose pork with a little fat so the finished dish turns out juicier. You can use any cheese - just make sure it can be easily grated.
Step 2
Cut the required amount of meat and run it through a meat grinder to make ground meat. Soak a slice of white bread in milk for a couple of minutes so it absorbs well.
Step 3
Lightly squeeze the bread and run it through the meat grinder after the meat. Add the ground bread, egg, salt, and a little seasoning to the mince. Mix very well. Then “beat” the mixture against the bottom of the bowl: pick up the mince with your hands and toss it back into the bowl. This makes the mixture denser so the finished pieces won’t fall apart.
Step 4
Shape the meat mixture into a ball and place it on a baking sheet greased with a little vegetable oil. Press the ball slightly and form a small indentation in the center.
Step 5
Crack an egg into the center of the meat vatrushka and add a little mayonnaise around it.
Step 6
Grate the cheese on a coarse grater and generously sprinkle it over the meat vatrushka. Put the baking sheet into an oven preheated to 180°C / 356°F for 30-40 minutes. Time and temperature are approximate - adjust to your oven.
Step 7
During this time, the meat vatrushka will cook through. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and transfer the vatrushka to a serving dish. Serve hot.
Step 8
Enjoy your meal!
