Preparation
Step 1
You can cook any amount of rice in the multicooker. I use long-grain rice. The key is the right proportions: for every 1 part of rice, use 2 parts of water. To avoid bland rice, you can add various spices.
Step 2
First, rinse the rice several times, draining the water each time. After rinsing, the water should remain clear.
Step 3
Place the rinsed rice in a fine sieve and let all the water drain off.
Step 4
Pour the required amount of water into the multicooker bowl. Add salt and spices to the water. I added a pinch of turmeric so the cooked rice would have a yellow hue. Place the bowl into the multicooker, close the lid, and select the “Rice,” “Buckwheat,” or “Porridge” mode for 30 minutes (check your multicooker’s settings). Wait until the water comes to a boil.
Step 5
Now add the rinsed rice into the boiling water in the multicooker and stir. Close the lid and let the rice cook. If you add rice initially into cold water, it will stick together into one big lump. It must be added into boiling water.
Step 6
In the closed multicooker bowl, the rice cooks under high steam pressure. It fully steams through, absorbs all the water, and increases in size. The cooked rice will be soft and fluffy. Stir it gently.
Step 7
Steamed rice in the multicooker makes an excellent side dish for many meat dishes. Enjoy your meal!
