Preparation
Step 1
You can also use other parts of the chicken for this recipe - wings, breast, or thighs will also turn out delicious.
Step 2
Rinse the drumsticks under cold running water, remove any remaining feathers if present. Pat dry with a kitchen towel to remove excess moisture. Place in a deep bowl suitable for marinating.
Step 3
Add spices and seasonings of your choice. Ready-made chicken or meat spice mixes also work. In this version: khmeli-suneli, smoked paprika, garlic powder, ground peppers, and dried thyme (about ½ teaspoon each). Add a few rosemary leaves if desired. Pour in vegetable oil and soy sauce. Salt to taste, keeping in mind that soy sauce is already salty.
Step 4
Mix thoroughly so each drumstick is coated with the aromatic marinade. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid. Leave at room temperature for 30-60 minutes, or refrigerate for longer marination.
Step 5
Preheat a contact grill to 350°F (180°C). Brush the grill plates with refined vegetable oil using a silicone brush. Place the marinated drumsticks on the grill. Close the lid and cook for about 25-30 minutes. To check doneness: cut into the meat down to the bone - if the juices run clear, the chicken is ready.
Step 6
Serve hot with fresh vegetables, herbs, or a variety of salads.
