Preparation
Step 1
How do you make fluffy rice in a skillet? Prepare the ingredients. Peel the onion and rinse it in cold water. Finely chop the onion with a sharp knife, dipping the knife in cold water to protect your eyes.
Step 2
Pour a little vegetable oil into a hot skillet and add the chopped onion. Fry the onion until golden. Stir occasionally so it doesn’t burn. A wooden spatula works well.
Step 3
While the onion is frying, prepare the needed amount of rice. Rinse it several times in cold water. Then drain all the water using a colander.
Step 4
When the onion is browned, add the rinsed rice to the skillet. Stir and sauté everything together for 3-4 minutes.
Step 5
Add a little salt and spices to the rice. For a nice yellow color, you can add a bit of turmeric. Mix well.
Step 6
Pour the required amount of hot water into the skillet. Stir and bring to a boil. Then cover with a lid, reduce heat to the minimum, and cook for about 10-15 minutes. The rice needs to absorb the liquid.
Step 7
As soon as the water is absorbed, turn off the heat and let the rice stand covered for 15 minutes more. Then serve hot. This rice side dish goes well with many meals. Enjoy!
