Eco-Friendly Easter Egg Decor
An original, eco-friendly way to decorate eggs for Easter! More and more people are thinking about Earth’s ecosystem, and eco movements have become very popular. With that in mind, I’d like to share a great idea for decorating Easter eggs. It’s not only fun, but also environmentally friendly!

About 1 hour.
Ingredients
2 tablespoon
Wild rice
Table
Table of volume measurements:
- teaspoon - 5 ml
- dessert spoon - 10 ml
- tablespoon - 20 ml
- glass - 200 ml
Preparation
Step 1
Prepare all ingredients. Use eggs of any size, but white shells work best. For the starch paste, prepare water and potato starch. For decor, you can use grains (corn grits, rolled oats, buckwheat), seasonings and spices (sesame, rosemary, dried herbs, bay leaf, paprika), small flower buds, etc. It all depends on your imagination and what you have at home.
Step 2
Put the eggs in a pot and cover with warm water. Having the water and eggs at roughly the same temperature helps prevent shell cracks. Place the pot on the heat. Once it comes to a boil, cook the eggs over medium heat for 10-12 minutes. Transfer the hard-boiled eggs to a bowl of cold water - this makes the shells easier to peel later.
Step 3
Make the starch paste that will “glue” on the eco decor. Pour 50 ml (about 1.7 fl oz) of cold water into a small bowl and whisk in the potato starch. Pour the remaining 100 ml (about 3.4 fl oz) of water into a small saucepan and bring it to a boil. Whisking constantly, slowly stream in the starch mixture. Cook for a few minutes, stirring, until thick. Remove from heat and let it cool.
Step 4
Take the cooled eggs out of the water and dry them well. Using a regular brush, apply the paste to the part of the egg you plan to cover with grains or spices.
Step 5
With the pasted side down, gently press the egg into the chosen eco decor, then place it on a plate with the decorated side up so it can dry and set. Do the same with the remaining eggs.
Step 6
Go back to the first egg. If the decor has set, brush paste onto the next section and dip it into a different grain or spice. Continue brushing and decorating until all sides are covered.
