Easy
About 30 min.
Preparation
Step 1
Use boneless fish fillets for cooking. If using frozen fish, remove it from the freezer in advance and thaw at room temperature. Drain any water after thawing.
Step 2
For cod mince, cut the fish fillet into pieces and place them in a food processor or meat grinder. Soak slices of bread in milk, then squeeze out the milk and grind the bread together with the fish. You can use almost any type of fish for the mince.
Step 3
Peel the onion, rinse in cold water, and chop finely. Heat a skillet until hot, add a little vegetable oil, and sauté the onion for 4-5 minutes until it starts turning golden. At the end, add a bit of butter for a creamy flavor.
Step 4
Chop the sautéed onion and add it to the bowl with the cod mince, then add the egg.
Step 5
Season with salt and spices to taste. A pre-mixed fish spice blend works well. Mix thoroughly.
Step 6
The fish mince should be thick enough to form patties. If it’s too thin, add some breadcrumbs, semolina, starch, or flour.
Step 7
Take some fish mixture, coat it in breadcrumbs, and shape into patties. Place a small piece of butter inside each patty.
Step 8
Fry the patties in a small amount of vegetable oil for 2-3 minutes per side over medium heat. Avoid high heat so the patties cook through.
Step 9
The finished patties should be a delicious golden color.
Step 10
Cod fish patties in a skillet are ready. Serve with sauces or any side dish. Enjoy!
