Preparation
Step 1
For this soup, we’ll use canned Pacific saury - one can will be enough. Peel the potatoes in advance and rinse them under running water to remove dirt.
Step 2
Pour water into a pot, place it on the stove, and bring it to a boil. Cut the peeled potatoes into small pieces and add them to the boiling water.
Step 3
Peel and rinse the onion and carrot. Slightly score the onion and add it whole to the pot with the potatoes. Let it simmer for about 15 minutes, then add the chopped carrot. You can slice it into rounds, sticks, or cubes. Cook for another 5 minutes.
Step 4
Meanwhile, wash the tomato, cut it in half, and grate it, removing the skin. Add the tomato pulp to the pot.
Step 5
Transfer the canned saury to a plate and remove the bones. They are soft enough, so you may leave them if you prefer. Add the fish to the soup. Season lightly with salt, remembering that the canned fish already contains some.
Step 6
Add a bay leaf to the pot and cook for another 5–10 minutes. The canned saury soup is ready! Serve it hot in bowls. Enjoy your meal!
