About 10 min.
Preparation
Step 1
To make a baked pasta-and-sausage casserole, prep and measure everything in advance. Choose sausages with the most natural ingredients possible - without preservatives or flavor enhancers. Remove the casings. I’m using tri-color pasta colored with natural vegetable dyes (beet, carrot, spinach), but regular pasta works too.
Step 2
In a small saucepan, bring filtered water to a boil. Add salt and cook the pasta for 8-9 minutes, until al dente (tender outside, slightly firm inside). We’ll bake it afterward, so it will finish cooking in the oven. Since pasta quality varies, follow the cooking time on your package. Drain the pasta in a colander.
Step 3
Grease a baking dish with a drop of sunflower oil and spread in half of the cooked pasta. Arrange the sausages on top in a single layer, sliced into about 1/5 inch (0.5 cm) rounds. My dish is 18 cm (about 7 inches) in outer diameter.
Step 4
Spread the remaining half of the cooked pasta over the sausages.
Step 5
In a separate bowl, mix the milk, eggs, and a pinch of salt until smooth. A fork works fine.
Step 6
Pour the mixture over the pasta. Sprinkle the casserole with cheese finely grated. Bake in a preheated 200°C (392°F) oven for 20 minutes, until the cheese is browned.
Step 7
Serve the casserole hot with a fresh vegetable salad.
