Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the necessary ingredients according to the list. Use high-quality flour. Choose large eggs; if the eggs are small, use 5–6 depending on the batter's consistency. The eggs should be at room temperature, so take them out of the fridge in advance. Preheat the oven to 230°C (446°F).
Step 2
Crack the eggs into a bowl. Add salt and whisk until smooth.
Step 3
Pour in the warm milk and mix again. If you want to avoid lumps, add only half of the milk first, then mix in the flour, and finally add the remaining milk.
Step 4
Melt the butter, let it cool slightly, and pour it into the batter. Stir well.
Step 5
Sift the flour into the batter and mix thoroughly until smooth and lump-free. The amount of flour needed may vary, so adjust based on the batter’s consistency.
Step 6
The batter should be runny, like pancake batter. Let it rest for 10 minutes, then mix again. During this time, the flour will absorb moisture, making the batter slightly thicker.
Step 7
Place a muffin tin in the preheated 230°C (446°F) oven for 5 minutes. Then remove the tin and pour 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil into each muffin cup. Next, pour in the batter, leaving a small gap from the top. This amount of batter is enough for 12 muffin cups (6 cm in diameter).
Step 8
Place the tin in the oven and bake at 230°C (446°F) for 15 minutes. Then reduce the temperature to 180°C (356°F) and bake for another 10–15 minutes. Place parchment paper under the tin to prevent oil splashes in the oven. Once done, remove the golden Yorkshire puddings from the muffin tin.
Step 9
They can be served on their own with tea or coffee, or you can fill them with different ingredients. Sweet fillings can include cream cheese mixed with powdered sugar and berries (such as thawed cherries). Savory fillings can be made with cream cheese, salt, chopped herbs, and crispy bacon. Other great options include smoked salmon, whipped cream, chocolate topping, etc. Enjoy!
