Whole Beets Baked in Foil in the Oven
For any salads and appetizers - no fuss and no dirty dishes! Whole beets baked in foil are very different from boiled beets: they’re less watery and keep not only their color and flavor, but also their beneficial nutrients. Dishes made with baked beets are much tastier and more aromatic.

Preparation
Step 1
How to bake whole beets in foil in the oven? Prepare everything you need. You only need beets. Try to choose beets of the same size so they cook at the same time. If they’re different sizes, bake them for different times - smaller ones less, larger ones longer. Both young and older beets work; the cooking time will just differ. Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
Step 2
Wash the beets well under running water. It’s best to use a brush to remove all dirt. Then dry each beet thoroughly so excess moisture doesn’t interfere with baking. Tear off a piece of foil slightly longer than a square. If the foil is thin, measure double length and fold it in half so it won’t tear. Place the beet in the center and wrap it tightly, bringing the edges up to the middle - this way juice won’t leak out of the “pouch.”
Step 3
Place the foil-wrapped beets in an oven-safe dish, skillet, or on a baking sheet. This additionally protects the oven from any juice leaks. There won’t be much juice, but it can still seep out.
Step 4
Put the dish with the beets into the oven preheated to 200°C (392°F). How long to bake beets in foil? Small beets and young beets: 45-60 minutes. Larger beets: up to 2 hours. Baking time also depends on your oven.
Step 5
In any case, check for doneness. Carefully open the foil and pierce the beet with a skewer - it should be soft. If it’s hard to pierce, wrap it back up and return it to the oven. Let the cooked beets cool completely. Then peel and use as needed. Enjoy!
