Advice
Use vegan margarine in order to make this crumble vegan.
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 220C.
Step 2
Place the apples into a 24cm square baking dish. Add the lemon juice, cinnamon, ginger, sugar, flour, and 100 ml of water. Stir everything together to coat the apples evenly, then bake for 15 minutes.
Step 3
While the apples are baking, prepare the crumble topping. Add all the topping ingredients to a mixing bowl. Using your fingertips, rub the margarine into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
Step 4
After 15 minutes, remove the dish from the oven. Stir the raisins into the softened apples, then evenly scatter the crumble topping over the fruit.
Step 5
Return the dish to the oven and bake for another 30 minutes, or until the apples are completely tender and the topping is crisp and golden. Serve warm.
