Step 1
How do you make turmeric golden milk? Prepare the ingredients for making turmeric paste, which we’ll use as the base for the golden milk. If you have a chance to taste turmeric (at a market, for example), choose a sweet, not a bitter spice. It’s best to grind peppercorns right before making the drink.
Step 2
Once you mix the base ingredients, you’ll get a thick paste like this. You may need more or less water - adjust the amount to get the right consistency. The golden milk base can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week. So if you like the drink, you can make the base in advance for several servings at once.
Step 3
Heat the milk in a saucepan over low heat until the first signs of boiling. Don’t take your eyes off it even for a minute so it doesn’t boil over. Stir it occasionally with a spoon (a wooden one is best).
Step 4
Pour the hot milk into a mug and add the turmeric paste. Start with one-third of a teaspoon, then, stirring, adjust the amount of paste to your taste. If desired, add olive oil or a small piece of butter. In hot milk, both the paste and the oil dissolve better and more evenly.
Step 5
Stir the milk. Right before your eyes it will turn a yellow-orange-green color. It’s very beautiful! Before serving, you can garnish the milk with a pinch of turmeric.
