Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the ingredients. You can use any fresh or frozen berries, fruit or a mixture of both. Strawberries, raspberries and blackberries work particularly well. Choose any preferred ice cream, such as vanilla, raspberry or chocolate.
Step 2
Rinse the berries thoroughly, place them in a saucepan and pour in the water. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for approximately 20 minutes, skimming off any foam that forms.
Step 3
Strain the berry liquid, reserving the cooked berries for baking or another use. Add the sugar to the liquid, return it to the stove and bring to a boil. Simmer over low heat for approximately 10 minutes, removing any foam.
Step 4
Remove the berry syrup from the heat and leave it to cool. To speed up the process, place the container of syrup in a bowl of cold water.
Step 5
Place a scoop of ice cream in the bottom of each serving glass.
Step 6
Pour the cooled berry syrup over the ice cream until the glass is approximately half full.
Step 7
Pour in the cold milk. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and add a few ice cubes, if desired. This amount makes approximately 2 servings. Serve the Turkish berry sherbet immediately while it is still cold.
