Preparation
Step 1
It’s best to prepare the ground meat yourself. You can use any kind: pork, beef, chicken, turkey, or veal. I will cook with ground pork. Use medium-sized onions and carrots.
Step 2
Peel the onion and carrot, rinse them. Finely chop the onion and grate the carrot on a large grater. Pour a little vegetable oil into a hot skillet, add the chopped onion and carrot. Stir and sauté for 2-3 minutes over low heat.
Step 3
Then add the prepared ground meat to the skillet. Mix everything well and fry together for another 3-5 minutes. The meat will change color. Break up lumps with a spatula so the meat cooks evenly.
Step 4
Add tomato paste to the sautéed ground meat. Season with salt, ground pepper, and dried basil to taste. Mix well. Add water, bring to a boil, then cover and simmer over low heat for about 10-15 minutes.
Step 5
At the end, add garlic pressed through a garlic press. You may add more water depending on the consistency you prefer.
Step 6
Remove the finished gravy from the heat. Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or spaghetti. Enjoy!
