Sweet Flatbreads in a Skillet

Soft, simple, and affordable. Perfect for breakfast or a snack. Sweet flatbreads in a skillet are a delicious treat with tea or coffee instead of bread. Reduce the sugar for a savory option. Kids especially love these flatbreads.

Easy
About 1 hour.
Preparation
Step 1
Use premium-quality flour. You can adjust the amount of sugar to your taste. To give the flatbreads a vanilla aroma, add a bit of vanilla powder to the dough or replace part of the sugar with vanilla sugar.
Step 2
Sift the flour into a bowl. Make a small well in the center.
Step 3
Break the egg into the flour, add warm water and vegetable oil, pour in the sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Step 4
Knead a smooth, elastic, non-sticky dough, adding a bit more flour or water if needed.
Step 5
Place the dough in a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and leave it in a warm place for 30 minutes.
Step 6
Divide the dough into 5-6 equal portions and roll each into a ball.
Step 7
I used about 85 grams of dough for each piece. Roll each piece into a small round flatbread about 12 cm (approx. 4¾ inches) in diameter using a rolling pin or your hands. Prepare all flatbreads in the same way.
Step 8
Heat a little vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Place the flatbreads in the skillet and fry them on both sides until golden brown. You can use any oil you prefer. I used sunflower oil.
Step 9
Transfer the cooked flatbreads to a plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve warm or completely cooled with tea, coffee, milk, or cocoa. Enjoy your meal!
