Advice
You can replace tomato paste in this recipe with canned tomatoes, fresh tomatoes, or ketchup. Keep in mind that the cooking time and mode in this recipe are approximate. Even identical models from the same manufacturer may work differently.
Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the ingredients. Choose fresh and juicy cabbage; young cabbage will make the dish taste even better. Adjust the number of sausages to your preference. You can also use any type of cooked sausage. Opt for high-quality sausage products, as they will influence the overall taste of the dish.
Step 2
Prepare all the vegetables in advance so that you can simply add them to the multicooker later. Wash, dry, and peel them. Chop the onion into small cubes.
Step 3
Grate the carrot using a coarse grater.
Step 4
Remove the outer leaves from the cabbage head. Shred the required amount of cabbage into thin strips. If you prefer, you can also chop it into cubes.
Step 5
Slice the sausages into rings.
Step 6
Set your multicooker to a frying mode. Different models may have different names for this function. Some have a mode called "Frying," while in my multicooker, frying is done in the "Baking" mode. Set the time to 20 minutes. Preheat the appliance, pour some vegetable oil into the bowl, and add the chopped onion.
Step 7
Fry the onion, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes until it becomes translucent. You can leave the lid open. Add the grated carrot and continue frying for another 5 minutes.
Step 8
Add the sliced sausages to the vegetables and stir. Fry everything together for another couple of minutes.
Step 9
Add all the cabbage to the bowl. Season with salt and pepper. You can also add any spices of your choice. Dilute the tomato paste in half a cup of water, mix well, and pour it over the cabbage. You can adjust the amount of water based on how thick you want the dish to be—if you prefer a saucier cabbage dish, add more water. Stir the cabbage thoroughly.
Step 10
Set the multicooker to a stewing mode. In my multicooker, it is called "Stewing," but different models may have different names. Set the cooking time to 1 hour. If you prefer crunchier cabbage, reduce the time to 30 minutes. The exact cooking time depends on your multicooker, so refer to your model’s instructions. Once the dish is done, stir it again. I like to leave it on the "Keep Warm" mode for another 30 minutes to enhance the flavor.
Step 11
Serve the stewed cabbage hot. Enjoy your meal!
