Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the ingredients. You can replace the freshly cooked squid with canned squid. Adjust or add to the selection of vegetables according to taste. The mayonnaise can be replaced with sour cream or plain yogurt.
Step 2
Remove the skin, inner membranes, transparent cartilage and innards from the squid. If using frozen squid, thaw it only partially, as it is easier to clean while still slightly frozen. Cook the squid in boiling salted water for 1–2 minutes. Do not cook it for longer, or it may become tough. Leave to cool, then cut into thin strips.
Step 3
Rinse and dry the cucumber, then cut it into quarter slices. There is no need to peel it unless the skin is tough, damaged or bitter.
Step 4
Cut the avocado in half and remove the pit. Peel each half and cut the flesh into small pieces. Cutting and removing the pit before peeling makes the avocado easier and safer to handle.
Step 5
Remove the stem and seeds from the bell pepper. Cut it into small strips or cubes.
Step 6
Rinse and dry the dill, then chop it finely. You can replace it or combine it with parsley, green onions or other fresh herbs.
Step 7
Combine the avocado, cucumber, squid, bell pepper and herbs in a salad bowl. Add the mayonnaise and season with salt and ground black pepper as needed. Mix gently.
Step 8
Serve the squid and avocado salad immediately.
