Spiral Potatoes on Skewers (Oven-Baked)
Spiral potatoes that will be the first to disappear from the festive table! A very festive oven-baked potato spiral. It grabs attention and gets eaten first. It takes a bit of effort, but it’s worth it!

Preparation
Step 1
How to bake spiral potatoes for a festive table? For this dish, it’s best to use large oval potatoes. Plan on 1 large potato per person. Scrub the potatoes well with a brush, rinse in clean water, and pat dry with paper towels.
Step 2
Pierce each potato straight through the center with a metal skewer. You can use wooden skewers, but it’s a bit harder to pierce raw potatoes and the stick may break.
Step 3
With a small sharp knife, make a cut on top of the potato.
Step 4
Without removing the knife, cut the potato lengthwise into a spiral, constantly pressing the blade against the skewer. Make slices about 0.3-0.4 in (0.7-1 cm) thick.
Step 5
Gently stretch the potato slightly to form a spiral.
Step 6
Repeat with the remaining potatoes.
Step 7
Make the marinade. In a small container, mix vegetable oil, soy sauce, and ground black and red pepper. Peel 1 garlic clove and press it through a garlic press. Add to the marinade and mix well. If you like, add any favorite seasoning at this stage.
Step 8
Using a silicone brush, coat each potato with the marinade - outside and between the spiral “springs.”
Step 9
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the skewered potatoes on the sheet and bake in a preheated oven for 20-25 minutes at 392°F (200°C).
Step 10
While the potatoes bake, prepare the topping. Mix finely chopped herbs and cheese. For this recipe, I used a frozen Provençal herb mix and Parmesan cheese.
Step 11
Generously sprinkle each spiral with the herbs and cheese.
Step 12
Return to the oven for another 10-15 minutes at 392°F (200°C).
Step 13
Serve the finished spirals right on the skewers.
Step 14
Or carefully remove the skewers and slightly stretch the potatoes on the plate, as in the photo - very impressive and beautiful!
