Preparation
Step 1
Prepare all the required ingredients. You can use any type of rice you prefer. Any canned stewed meat will work, although beef is a good choice because it usually contains less fat. Homemade canned beef is ideal, but you can also use a reliable store-bought product.
Step 2
Pour the vegetable oil into a frying pan. Cut the onion into small pieces and add it to the pan. You can use more onion, if desired.
Step 3
Peel and rinse the carrot, then grate it coarsely. Add it to the pan with the onion.
Step 4
Place the pan over medium heat and cook the vegetables for 5–7 minutes, stirring regularly to prevent them from burning.
Step 5
Open the canned meat, transfer it to a cutting board and cut it into pieces. Alternatively, break it apart with a fork.
Step 6
Add the pieces of meat to the pan with the cooked vegetables.
Step 7
Mix everything together and cook the vegetables and meat for 5 minutes. Any liquid from the canned meat should evaporate completely.
Step 8
Rinse the rice thoroughly in warm water. Add it to the pan with the meat and vegetables, then mix well.
Step 9
Cook the contents of the pan over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring regularly. Do not skip this step, as frying gives the rice a richer color and aroma while helping the grains remain separate.
Step 10
Pour in the warm water. Season with salt and ground pepper, mix well and cover the pan with a lid.
Step 11
Cook the rice with the meat over low heat for 20–25 minutes, or until the rice is tender. The exact cooking time will depend on the variety of rice used.
Step 12
The rice with canned stewed meat is ready. Divide it among plates or serve in small individual frying pans.
