Easy
About 30 min.
Preparation
Step 1
Use the amount of green onions to your taste. Mayonnaise can be homemade.
Step 2
Place clean root vegetables in a pot with water, bring to a boil. Cook over medium heat until tender. Check with a knife: if it pierces easily, they’re done. Remove boiled potatoes and carrots, cool completely. Peel potatoes and grate coarsely.
Step 3
Peel cooled carrots and grate coarsely.
Step 4
Remove cod liver from the can, place on paper towels to drain excess oil. Mash with a fork into smaller pieces.
Step 5
Hard-boil the eggs. To do so, cover with water, bring to a boil, and cook over medium heat for 7-8 minutes from boiling point. Place eggs immediately in cold water to cool and ease peeling. Separate whites from yolks. Grate whites coarsely.
Step 6
Slice pickles into thin strips or grate coarsely if you prefer.
Step 7
Assemble the salad using a cooking ring or a suitable salad bowl. Start with a layer of grated potatoes, spread evenly. Add mayonnaise.
Step 8
Next, add cod liver. Do not spread mayonnaise on this layer.
Step 9
Wash, dry, and finely chop green onions. Sprinkle evenly over the cod liver layer.
Step 10
Add pickles, spread evenly.
Step 11
Spread mayonnaise over the pickle layer.
Step 12
Add grated carrots, spread evenly. Top with mayonnaise.
Step 13
Add grated egg whites, spread mayonnaise.
Step 14
Finish with grated egg yolks on top. Refrigerate the salad for a couple of hours to let it set.
Step 15
Decorate before serving to your taste. Enjoy!
