Preparation
Step 1
How do you make a simple Bolognese sauce with tomato paste? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. You can grind the meat yourself or use ready-made store-bought ground meat. The recipe used ground pork. You can combine two or three types of meat, which will make the sauce richer and tastier. Instead of tomatoes in their own juice and tomato paste, you can use fresh ripe tomatoes and tomato sauce.
Step 2
Peel the onion and garlic. Rinse them together with the herbs and bay leaf under running water. Finely chop the onion.
Step 3
Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan and add the onion to fry. Choose the degree of frying to your liking: you can wait until the onion becomes slightly translucent, or leave it a little longer until it turns golden.
Step 4
Add the ground meat to the onion and, stirring constantly, break up any large lumps with a spatula. The smaller the pieces of ground meat are, the more appetizing and delicious the sauce will be. Fry the ground meat this way for about 5 minutes over high heat.
Step 5
Press the garlic through a garlic press or chop it finely by hand. Add it to the ground meat.
Step 6
Next add the tomatoes in their own juice and the tomato paste. Add salt and pepper to taste and, if you like, a pinch of dried basil, oregano, or other favorite spices.
Step 7
Mix everything thoroughly and check whether the sauce is too thick. If there is not enough liquid, add a little water, about 40–50 ml, about 3 tablespoons. If you are using fresh tomatoes, they will release juice during cooking, and that will be enough. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer the ground meat with the tomatoes under a closed lid for 10 minutes.
Step 8
Then add the cream and the bay leaf to the pan, stir, and leave it on the stove for another 5 minutes.
Step 9
Taste the sauce for salt and add more if needed. Add the finely chopped herbs and remove the pan from the heat.
Step 10
The sauce is ready. Enjoy your meal!
