Sausages Baked in the Oven with Potatoes and Cheese

Simple, very tasty, and quick - perfect for lunch or dinner! Sausages baked in the oven with potatoes and cheese are especially loved by kids. This dish is a great way to quickly and deliciously feed a child. You can replace the sausages with frankfurters, bacon, or smoked ribs — it will be just as delicious.

Step 1
You can replace sausages with frankfurters. Besides the listed spices, feel free to add others to your taste. You can also add other vegetables like carrots, bell peppers, onions, etc.

Peel the casing off the sausages and slice them into rounds. If the sausages are in a natural casing, there’s no need to peel them. You can use any kind of sausages, but keep in mind they will strongly influence the final taste of the dish. For example, if you choose sausages with a pronounced smoky flavor, the whole dish will have a light smoky taste. If you prefer a neutral flavor, use regular sausages made from poultry, pork, or beef.

Peel the potatoes and cut them into small cubes.

Grate the cheese on a coarse grater. You can use any cheese for this dish - hard, semi-hard, or soft, like mozzarella. The main thing is that it’s tasty, high-quality, free of vegetable fat substitutes, and melts well.

In a bowl, combine the potatoes, sausages, and grated cheese. Mix well.
Step 6
Now prepare the sauce. You can substitute milk with cream of any fat content to your taste. Any broth will work - vegetable, meat, or chicken. I used vegetable broth.

Mix together the milk, broth, pressed garlic, khmeli-suneli seasoning, salt, and ground black pepper.
Step 8
Place the potato, sausage, and cheese mixture into a baking dish. Pour the fragrant milk mixture on top. Put the dish in a preheated oven at 190°C (about 375°F) for approximately 1 hour or longer until the potatoes are tender and a golden crust appears on the surface. If the potatoes are still undercooked but the top is already browned, cover the dish with foil.

Sprinkle the finished sausages with potatoes and cheese with chopped herbs and serve. Enjoy your meal!
