Advice
Canned beans can be replaced with dry ones. Soak them in cold water for a few hours beforehand, then boil over medium heat until soft. Salt the beans closer to the end of cooking, when they are nearly done. This salad can be prepared just as quickly if you cook the beans in advance.
Preparation
Step 1
You can use either white or red canned beans. First, drain them using a sieve to remove excess liquid. Also drain excess marinade from the Korean carrots. If the carrots are too long, cut them shorter.
Step 2
Slice the ham into thin strips.
Step 3
Use any cheese you like: hard, semi-hard, soft, or processed cheese. Just make sure it's of good quality and free of vegetable fat substitutes. Grate hard cheese on a coarse grater. Soft or processed cheese can also be sliced into thin strips if preferred.
Step 4
In a large enough bowl, combine all ingredients: canned beans, Korean carrots, sliced ham, and cheese. Dress with mayonnaise, sour cream, or yogurt - add as much as you like. Mix everything well. Optionally, add fresh herbs like parsley or dill. Wash, dry, and finely chop the herbs before adding.
Step 5
You can serve the salad immediately or chill it slightly. Enjoy your meal!
