A great option for a hearty lunch or dinner – you’ll want to swallow your tongue! Rice with meat in a slow cooker is an excellent dish for everyday meals or celebrations. It tastes and looks like pilaf. Using a slow cooker is very convenient, as you can do other things without worrying about burning the dish.

Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the ingredients as listed. Aside from pork, you can use any other type of meat for this dish. Keep in mind that cooking time, flavor, and calorie content will change. For example, beef takes longer to cook than pork, while chicken fillet or turkey cooks faster.
Step 2
Cut the pork into medium-sized pieces.
Step 3
Wash the rice until the water runs clear. You can use special pilaf rice or regular parboiled rice. I use parboiled golden rice, which holds its shape and doesn’t break down even with long cooking.
Step 4
Peel and slice the onion into half rings or quarter rings. If you don’t like the taste of onion in the finished dish, you can leave the whole onion so that you can easily remove it later.
Step 5
Peel the carrot and grate it on a coarse grater or cut it into thicker strips.
Step 6
Set the slow cooker to the "Fry" mode at 160°C (320°F) for 20 minutes. Heat vegetable oil. If your slow cooker doesn't allow manual temperature control, select the closest mode according to the instructions for your appliance.
Step 7
Place the pork in the slow cooker and fry, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 minutes until a golden crust forms. Sprinkle with spices at the end and mix well.
Step 8
Set the slow cooker to 120°C (248°F) for 50 minutes, or select an appropriate mode for cooking.
Step 9
Add the onion and carrot to the meat and mix. Fry, stirring, for 5-7 minutes until the vegetables turn golden. Add some hot water to cover the meat completely. Continue cooking for the remaining time until the meat becomes tender. Then, turn off the slow cooker.
Step 10
Add the washed rice and whole peeled garlic cloves.
Step 11
Pour the remaining water over the rice, making sure it’s 1-2 cm (0.5-0.8 inches) above the rice level. Depending on the size of your slow cooker bowl, you may need slightly more or less water. Salt and pepper to taste.
Step 12
Set the slow cooker to the "Rice/Grains" or "Porridge" mode (depending on your model) for 35-40 minutes until excess moisture evaporates. After the beep, turn off the slow cooker. Stir the rice and meat. Let it sit for 10 minutes under the closed lid. Cooking time may vary depending on your preferences and the specifics of your slow cooker.
Step 13
Serve the rice with meat on plates, garnished with fresh herbs. Enjoy your meal!
