- teaspoon - 5 ml
- dessert spoon - 10 ml
- tablespoon - 20 ml
- glass - 200 ml
Preparation
Step 1
Start with the filling. Prepare all the listed ingredients. Young cabbage is best, but old cabbage will also work - just sauté it until soft. Wash eggs and boil them hard, then cover with cold water.
Step 2
Wash the cabbage, remove the top leaves. Shred or slice thinly.
Step 3
Place the shredded cabbage in a dry pan and sauté over low heat, stirring constantly so it doesn’t burn. Transfer to a bowl and let cool while you prepare other filling ingredients.
Step 4
Peel the cooled eggs. Dice into small cubes.
Step 5
Use dill and parsley, or substitute with cilantro, thyme, or other herbs. Wash, dry with paper towels, and chop finely.
Step 6
Mix cabbage, eggs, and herbs. Season with salt and pepper. Mix well. The filling is ready!
Step 7
To make the batter: measure all ingredients. Let kefir, sour cream, and eggs come to room temperature. Sift the flour for fluffier baking.
Step 8
Melt butter in the microwave or a water bath. Mix with kefir and sour cream. Add salt and sugar (or heat-resistant sugar substitute). Stir until smooth.
Step 9
In another bowl, beat eggs with a mixer until bubbles form.
Step 10
Gently pour beaten eggs into the kefir-butter mixture. Mix until smooth. Add part of the flour mixed with baking powder. Then gradually add the rest of the flour until the batter is like thick sour cream.
Step 11
Use a 9-inch (22 cm) round ovenproof dish. Grease with butter, sprinkle with breadcrumbs if desired. Pour half the batter, spread evenly, then add the cabbage filling. Spread it out.
Step 12
Pour the remaining batter on top to cover the filling. Smooth the surface. Sprinkle with black and white sesame seeds. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) for about 30 minutes. Check with a wooden skewer - if it comes out dry, it’s done.
Step 13
Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then remove from the dish. Serve with salad, herbs, or veggies. Delicious hot or cold!
