Table of volume measurements:
- teaspoon - 5 ml
- dessert spoon - 10 ml
- tablespoon - 20 ml
- glass - 200 ml
Preparation
Step 1
Any sausages and vegetables can be used for the filling. Sour cream can be replaced with mayonnaise or tomato sauce.
Step 2
Wash and peel the onion, cut it as you like (half rings, quarters, or cubes).
Step 3
Cut the ham into small cubes. Cooked or smoked sausages will also work.
Step 4
Wash and dry the bell pepper. Remove the stem and seeds. Chop the pepper into small pieces.
Step 5
Pour vegetable oil into a pan. Fry the onion over medium heat, stirring, until lightly golden.
Step 6
Add bell pepper and ham to the pan, mix. Cook the filling a few more minutes until the pepper softens and ham pieces lightly fry.
Step 7
Grate the cheese finely. Any cheese will do - hard, semi-hard, soft like mozzarella. The main thing is that it’s tasty, high-quality, without milk fat substitutes, and melts well.
Step 8
While the filling cooks, wash and peel the potatoes. Grate the potatoes coarsely.
Step 9
Salt the potatoes, add an egg, and mix.
Step 10
Add flour and spices to taste. I used dried basil. Mix well. You may need slightly more or less flour, adjust based on consistency - the mixture shouldn’t be runny.
Step 11
Heat vegetable oil in a pan and spread the potato mixture evenly. My pan is 20 cm in diameter.
Step 12
Fry the potato pancake until golden brown. Carefully flip and reduce the heat.
Step 13
Spread sour cream on the potato layer. You can replace sour cream with natural yogurt, mayonnaise, or ketchup if desired.
Step 14
Sprinkle some cheese so the filling sticks lightly to the potato layer.
Step 15
Evenly spread the filling over the potato layer.
Step 16
Wash and dry the tomato, cut into slices.
Step 17
Place the tomato slices on top.
Step 18
Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top. Cover the pan with a lid and keep on low heat until the cheese melts.
Step 19
Cut the potato casserole into portions and serve immediately. Enjoy!
