Step 1
Prepare the ingredients. Use store-bought yeast puff pastry and medium-sized raw potatoes. Choose your preferred mozzarella and ham. Dill, sesame seeds and oregano are optional.
Step 2
Peel and rinse the potatoes, then cut them into small cubes.
Step 3
Heat a little vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the potatoes and fry until lightly golden. Season with salt and pepper.
Step 4
Chop the mozzarella, ham and dill.
Step 5
Lightly roll out the thawed pastry. Place it in a baking dish and prick the base all over with a fork.
Step 6
Spread the potatoes over the pastry, then add the mozzarella, ham and dill. Season with a little more salt and pepper.
Step 7
Brush the edges of the pastry with lightly beaten egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake in an oven preheated to 355–365°F until the pastry is golden brown.
Step 8
Bake the pie for about 45 minutes. Sprinkle it with oregano while still hot. Leave it to cool slightly, then remove it from the baking dish. Serve warm or cold.
Step 9
The finished pie is not soggy and holds its shape well. It has a thin pastry base and plenty of hearty filling, making it ideal when you want a quick and satisfying bake.
