Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the ingredients. You can use fresh or frozen fish. If frozen, thaw it properly beforehand. I’m using gutted pollock without a head. Pollock is a lean fish, so cooking it with vegetables is a great option. If baking, it's recommended to cover the dish with foil.
Step 2
Clean the pollock by removing the scales, fins, and tail. Using a sharp knife, cut along the backbone and separate the fillets from both sides.
Step 3
Peel and finely chop the onion.
Step 4
Peel the carrot and grate it using a coarse grater.
Step 5
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan. Fry the fish on both sides, seasoning with salt and pepper.
Step 6
Add the onion to the fish and sauté for a couple of minutes. Then add the grated carrot.
Step 7
After another 2 minutes, pour in a little water, bring to a boil, and cover with a lid. Reduce the heat and simmer the fish for about 10 minutes.
Step 8
You can serve the fish with vegetables as a standalone dish or pair it with a side dish such as mashed potatoes, boiled rice, or pasta. Enjoy your meal!
