Preparation
Step 1
How to make pasta with salmon in cream sauce? Prepare the ingredients. I used pre-cut salmon fillet. If you’re using a whole fish, thaw it first and remove the skin and bones. You can use pasta of any shape, but preferably not too small. Any neutral vegetable oil can be used instead of olive oil.
Step 2
Pat the salmon fillet dry with paper towels. Cut into small pieces.
Step 3
Finely grate the Parmesan. With Parmesan, the pasta will be especially aromatic with a pleasant slightly sharp taste. You can use any other hard cheese, but choose a good-quality one that melts well - then the sauce will be truly tasty.
Step 4
Heat olive oil in a skillet. Add the salmon pieces. Use a skillet large enough so the fish fits in a single layer - then it will sear evenly.
Step 5
Sauté the salmon over moderate heat for 1-2 minutes per side, turning occasionally.
Step 6
Salt the fish and add herbs and spices to taste. Ground black pepper works well. Add salt with the cheese’s saltiness in mind.
Step 7
Add the cream to the fish and stir. Bring to a boil, then simmer over low heat for 7-8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 8
Add most of the grated cheese to the skillet and stir until fully melted. Reserve a little cheese for serving (optional).
Step 9
At the same time, cook the pasta in boiling salted water until al dente - slightly firm inside. Follow the package instructions if needed. Drain the cooked pasta in a colander.
Step 10
Add the hot pasta to the skillet with the fish and sauce and toss to combine. Warm over low heat for 1-2 minutes.
Step 11
Serve the pasta with salmon, sprinkled with grated cheese and finely chopped dill or parsley. Enjoy!
