Advice
Beef can be replaced with any other type of meat you prefer. However, keep in mind that cooking time, taste, and calorie content will change. Pork and lamb are usually fattier than beef, while chicken or turkey are leaner. Cooking time depends not only on the type of meat but also on the specific cut and whether the meat is from a younger or older animal.
Preparation
Step 1
Prepare all the necessary ingredients. You will need boneless beef. You can adjust the spices to your taste. Choose any pasta you prefer—I used penne.
Step 2
Wash the beef and cut it into medium-sized cubes.
Step 3
Peel the carrot and cut it into sticks.
Step 4
Cut the tomatoes into small cubes. You can replace fresh tomatoes with canned diced tomatoes, tomato paste, or ketchup.
Step 5
Peel the onion. Chop it into medium-sized cubes or half-rings. If you don’t like the texture of onion in pilaf, you can leave it whole and remove it later.
Step 6
Heat vegetable oil in a cauldron (or deep pan) over high heat. Add the onion and fry, stirring, until it becomes translucent.
Step 7
Add the beef and spices. Fry everything together, stirring, for about 3 minutes.
Step 8
Add the chopped carrots, mix, and fry for another 5 minutes.
Step 9
Add the tomatoes. Cover with a lid and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 7 minutes. Cooking time depends on heat intensity, cookware, and personal preference.
Step 10
Add the pasta and mix well. Fry for 5-7 minutes.
Step 11
Pour in hot water until it completely covers the contents of the cauldron (I used 1 liter of water). Bring to a boil over high heat.
Step 12
Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 20 minutes until excess moisture evaporates.
Step 13
Serve the finished pasta pilaf with meat on plates, sprinkle with fresh herbs, and enjoy!
