Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the ingredients. Cut the fish into steaks approximately ¾-1 inch thick. You can use salmon, trout, pink salmon or coho salmon. Choose your favorite spices or use a mixture of dried herbs.
Step 2
Rinse the scaled fish steaks under cold water and pat them thoroughly dry with paper towels. Season with salt and spices, then leave to marinate for 10–15 minutes.
Step 3
For attractive grill marks and even cooking, use a grill pan. Lightly brush it with vegetable oil and heat it well. A regular nonstick frying pan will also work.
Step 4
Place the fish steaks in the hot pan and cook over medium heat for approximately 4 minutes on one side.
Step 5
Turn the steaks over and cook for approximately another 4 minutes. The fish is ready when the flesh is opaque and flakes easily with a fork. Avoid overcooking it so it remains juicy.
Step 6
Turn off the heat and leave the fish in the pan for another 5 minutes. Serve with steamed vegetables, rice or another side dish. Drizzle with lemon juice just before serving.
